My digital paintings are done using a simple program that came installed on my first computer. I start each new piece with a blank "canvas" screen. Using the virtual paintbrush, I choose the colors I'm feeling at the time and I just start painting.
This was a wonderful discovery for me because I could sit at my desk and paint in the darkness while hubby and the kids watched television. I didn't have the fear of paint drying or kids knocking over a painting having too much fun.
It was this type of painting that allowed me to get out of bed the night I saw that first angel and to be able to get her down without waking her.
As I paint the background, I see things...like searching for shapes in the clouds. All I do is mark what I see. Nothing is planned ahead. It's very relaxing. Each piece takes many hours, days, even weeks of blending, detailing and test printing. All of the work is done by hand, never copied or filtered. (although I'm in love with Hubble telescope photos and have used them as backgrounds before...always credited as their photo)
When a piece is finished, I have it printed in our next town. I have been so happy with their work. The prints are made on archival luster finish photo paper. They are cut, signed and dated by me.
